At the time I was painting this abstract, I had become aware of a story about Elvis Presley, how when he was up and coming he was known as the "Memphis Flash in the Pan". The story also went on to say how the well few music establishment at the time had a conundrum - None of them really wanted to acknowledge this kid from a simple upbringing... yet they all wanted to catch a piece of his rising star!
