As scientist became aware that the sea level of the oceans is rising, people began to be concerned about place where there is a lot of low land. The Maldives are one of the prime examples, a place where the highest elevation is barely a few meters. At the time I painted this painting, the Maldives government held a meeting underwater to symbolize their concern.
